Jenny's Spider Shoot

So two days ago, I worked with Jenny Liu again, this being my third time shooting with her. But when you have a good model, why not, right? Anjelica picked her up and they came to my apartment, we spent some time (okay a LOT of time) doing makeup and hair. Ultimately we decided on crayola paint for the eyes and toilet paper rolls for the hair. (Don't ask...) Here, of course are some shots from the preparation segment:

Then we took a drive over to Tradewinds park. Upon leaving the car, I saw some dude deting up his tripod. I yelled over to him, like a dork "Hello fellow photographer!" and he replied genially, probably wanting me to leave him alone. But then he said it was his first time in the park so I gave him some friendly tips and let him know the more scenic spots. He thanked me and set off. Oh I felt so cool. It's so funny when you see someone else with a camera and you automatically assume you have this..strange connection, like you were born in the same hospital and just happened to come upon them in a random spot in the world. Or maybe I'm just overanalytical.

After being shooed away from my desired spot for shooting by the elite frisbee-golf jockeys, we finally started to shoot. It was my first shoot using an actual reflector (not a piece of cardboard with tinfoil plastered on it!) and it was pretty cool. Almost like having a light outdoors. Which Im investing in at the moment..

Black Widow Shoot

Wow so I definitely am not keeping up with this thing much am I? Not so important, not like anyone really looks, haha. I have my view count, I know what goes on...
Anyway I will keep on for the sake of keeping on!

Anyway so yesterday, Mayte Hodson and I started shooting. It was, of course, an outdoor shoot [which in FL isn't a great idea in the summer.] We started shooting some pics on a dock on a lake near her house. Then of course, the rain came pelting down. Now I've had to cancel 2 shoots in the past 5 days due to rain. I couldn't let this get me. After running back to her apartment, we did some shots in the bathtub which was something I just needed to do since I never have...

And then we had some watermelon...

which was fun.

And then the great Anjelica Martinez comes over and lets me borrow her strobe/soft box. Now I never use lights so this is a new thing. I definitely loved it! Here's my first edited shot:

Jelly and Mayte spent like 2 hours on makeup while I sat around eating and reading Elle.

It was an incredibly long shoot and I didn't stop til 11:30 ish.

But it was fun! Mayte is an excellent model and can go from giggly to fierce in .5 seconds! :]

More soon!

Crap

So here I am without internet again, writing off of a friend's computer. So much has happened since I've last posted, too much to write. But I have had some amazing shoots and wish i could have gotten around to documenting them but I am so starved for time. Not to mention my computer's a piece of CRAP and it's soo slow that it's hard to get myself to want to even resize some behind the scenes shots to post here. It's that bad. But not too long until I receive my free laptop from the scholarship I won, and then, freedom! [How the hell am I going to get photoshop on there, though?] I didn't think of that =\

Things aren't so bad. I've done my first assisting job and have been signed to a music company as their go-to photographer. Exciting stuff I can't wait to get more into...

Well I will hopefully get a connection back at home again, and then will come here to update.

Jenny and Group Shoot

So last Wednesday, a miserable day it was until, yay, a shoot! I got to shoot with the lovely Jenny Liu. Her friend Mayte generously provided her wardrobe and we got some really awesome shots. Here's a few!

Then today a fellow photographer, Anjelica Martinez, Jenny and I got together to shoot. Here's some shots from the preparation :)

Jenny had a pretty flamboyant 80's prom dress on but oddly enough, it worked out really well!

Then when we got to "The Stable" --a location I definitely overuse but still love, Jenny's friend Alice [also a model] joined us and it just turned into a pretty large shoot with Alice's brother and boyfriend there. But it was a fun shoot! New people are always great to meet.

Shoots, shoots and shoots.

So these past few weeks and the next few have proven to be my busiest so far! I have an average 2 shoots a week now, and it's pretty amazing. It's reassuring that every time I do one, I am increasingly certain that this is it for me. I'm just so sure that photography is what I want to do for the rest of my life. It's a great feeling, knowing..you spend a lot of your time in adolescence and childhood just wondering what it's going to be. I'm happy to know right now, at 18 and before starting college.

I realize I never posted any shots from my shoot with Lisa..these were taken about a week and a half ago:

She was just too cute with her boyfriend in the shots...they were totally natural too, hardly any posing. I felt quite intruding, haha.
I also learned, on Lisa's shoot that I am fully unable to jump a 10 foot fence, lol. I really wanted to get over it to shoot on the other side..it just did NOT work out.

Skipping over to the day before easter. It was rainy and gross and so typical FL like. But the shoot must go on, right? I shot with a friend from school named Rachel. Here's some shots!

Eventually the rain started to really pelt. So we were out of there!

On a subject change, we're getting ready to move again because we've been kicked out of our apartment, go figure. It's ridiculous, the reason, which I will not disclose..but at least I'll be moving closer to where most of my friends live. Coconut Creek, oh joy. [There are coconuts, but no creeks.] My room is still totally unpacked and we have to be out of here in 2 days. What a procrastinator, huh? Oh well. I'm going to miss having my own room. Sharing with the mother. Eek. Oh well...

Yesterday I shot with the lovely Jenny Liu, and I will have a post on that shoot coming up soon! :]

Crystal's Shoot

So this weekend I actually did two really fun shoots, but my first blog entry will be Crystal's [since I've got some of her pictures edited already]
So we met for coffee on Friday, attempted to visit some thrift stores but they were all closed. Go figure. So the next day she came back up [from Miami] and we went to a Vintage shop and got this awesome 30's or 40's vintage hat for $20...had to kind of pressure the shop guy to sell it since it was on display, hehe. And then we went to this thrift hut which had absolutely too much to want! She picked up about 6 pieces of vintage clothing and I got a bunch of prop-like things, a really cool porcelain mask and a hairpiece for Crystal. We then went on a search for some cool gloves but couldn't find any. I left for my shoot with Lisa and Crystal went to another vintage shop to find gloves, which she did, finally.
Sunday, we got started at like 12:30 and hit up the old abandoned horse stable. A place I love but am growing tired of rapidly...I need something else, some place NOT green. So afterwards we went downtown to Ft. Lauderdale and shot near the performing arts center. Of course it HAD to be like, 90 degrees until the freaking sun went down so Crystal and I were melting all day. But we had lots of fun. Even though I forced her to smoke half a pack of cigarettes [for the sake of art!...] We got some great shots. We took a walk on Los Olas and got some dinner and discussed our next shoot. And I really can't wait because Crystal was awesome! See for yourself:

Introduction

Well I've decided that my shoots are much too fun to simply be just pictures. This blog will document my experiences and included behind the scenes shots and even some bloopers. It's an experimental look-see for all those interested. :)
I'll most likely make my first entry this weekend. Keep watching!
:)
